Moment Of Weakness

It's been a while since I've felt this down. I guess that's a testament to ... keeping my mind busy? Who knows.

Anyway.

When I'm in a mood like this, I tend to gravitate toward a certain type of music. Jonathan Elias' "The Prayer Cycle" certainly fits the mold. Yeah, it's a bit overworked and overstuffed. He has too many ideas and the project could have used some ... I think the Top Chef judges would use the word "editing" here. The whole project is muddled, muddy, and busy. But it's still beautiful.

My favorite piece ... the one to which I always come when I seek solace ... is Movement I: Mercy. Despite the conflicting multiple languages (Hungarian, Mali, and Swahili? Why not throw in some German and Latin while you're at it?), the piece still comes together in a comforting stew.

Today, a day I'm feeling especially raw, this song popped up in my music shuffle, as if the Universe knew I needed a spiritual hug. And I did. Thank you, Universe.
